“EARLY SELDEN-BYBEE VASE” (Early 20th century)
Approximately 7 inches (height), blue matte glaze, impressed Selden-Bybee pottery mark on bottom, excellent condition.
During the early 20th century, many utilitarian pottery companies started producing pieces in an “art pottery” style to compete with the popular “art pottery” companies, such as Rookwood Pottery. This is an exemplarily piece in that style produced by Selden-Bybee. Arguably, this is one of the most interesting and beautiful pieces produced by Selden-Bybee.
