"FOLK ART ARCHITECTURAL ORNAMENT FROM THE B.P.O.E. CLUB, SHARON, PENNSYLVANIA" (Probably late 19th century)
The piece was an architectural ornament attached to the front of The Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks building, Sharon, Pennsylvania. Most of these pieces were painted in a rust colored paint; this piece is covered in remnants of this paint. A copy of an old postcard, ca. 1940's, illustrating the building with the ornament on the front when it had its' full complement of paint is available.
