"SPANISH COLONIAL SANTOS" (Probably 19th century or earlier)
Approximate maximum dimensions including base: 21 ½ (height), 11 ½ inches (depth), 8 inches (width).
Probably St. Francis since the piece has the accompanying animals. Appears to be a carved soft wood with paint that is now flaking/deteriorating. The paint is over a thin base coat of white gesso. “Early …carvers were influenced by the Spanish-baroque style. “Later figures are simple and small, averaging about 8 inches….” Country of origin is unkown.
