Thomas Attardi was born in Italy in 1900. Attardi attended the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design in New York. He also studied under Lockman and Bernecker at the DaVinci School of Art. Not only was Attardi a painter, but he went on to be a lecturer and demonstrator at the Art Life-Craft Studio in New York (1953-55). He was an instructor in Adult Education at Poughkeepsie High School and Wappinger Central School (1957-58).
